Proceeds from this book support animal shelters, adoptions and animal rescue organizations.
We are grateful to the many rescue groups and volunteers who give animals a second chance - and the time they need to find their way home.
Susan Erdman is a veterinarian, scientist, and lifelong advocate for animal welfare who, with her husband, has shared her life with twenty adopted greyhounds over the past three decades. Many of them were retired racing dogs, each finding their way - at their own pace - into the quiet routines of home. Susan captures the small, often overlooked moments that define life after adoption: trust, humor, and belonging. Into the Home Stretch grew out of gratitude - for the dogs, for the rescue organizations that make second chances possible, as well as the gentle lessons learned along the way. Susan lives in Massachusetts with her husband, where long walks, wildlife, and a deep respect for animals continue to shape daily life.
